I have this idea in my had that pops up fairly often. A way to explain the windy-ness of Melbourne to people who don't live here. Basically it involves doing your hair, and then pointing your hair dryer straight at it. Turn it up to full blast. Maybe turn your head up side down and do your best mosh moves. That, I think, would be a fair idea of what it's like here. It's almost always windy, or very windy! And then of course you add a car drive, 60km/hour, with the window down... you get the idea!
Anyway, this is my rather long introduction to my Sunday, when we met up with a couple of friends for a few drinks at Preston's Raccoon Bar. I had a casual vintage inspired up do – post-blast, here, but it held up pretty well. I wore my early 1960s cafe print dress, my vintage soap bubble cardigan (it's sooooo soft) (oh this reminds me, I need to darn a little moth nibble on it) and my orange Gorman polka dot shoes. My sunglasses are by Asos and I love them, but I'm ready to retire my bag, also by Asos. I will replace it with something in beautiful soft leather, something that will last me for years, is big enough to hold my camera without being a suitcase, is amazing. The search begins... I think it could be a long one! But one I think I might just enjoy doing, of course.

And yes, I am ridiculously pleased with my nails. I think my freehanding is coming along quite nicely! Tell me: are you into fancy nails at the moment? I mean with more than one colour. And what about the 3D art stuff? I'm curious!

Gee, your hair color is just the loveliest right now, especially with the pop of coral in the scarf!!
I went to university in a horribly windy city; it was right on a big lake, and I literally could never wear my hair down. Not fun, but one does get skilled at up-dos ;)
The colours are all so lovely together! I love the print of your dress.
I wish I could be bothered with fancy nails. I barely can remember to take off my incredibly chipped polish (actually there have been many meetings when I look down at my nails and am embarrassed....)
Great outfit!
Yes, I'm quite into arty nails and also vintage! Check out my blog for lots of nail art pics and search for tutorials I have posted! (spam over) Luv yr blog!
You are the cutest. I can barely stand it. Your hair beautiful and I aspire to have that goin on someday haha. Your nails are lovely as well!

Love your hair in this style! (Ok, it's scarcely a secret that I ♥ your locks however you fashion them, but sometimes a style really jumps out at me and this is one of them). I often forget to use cute little chiffon scarves in my hair like this, which is a bit funny, because I used to do it all the time as little girl (trying to induce any hint of vintage fashion I could into my wardrobe years before I became old enough to start buying my own clothes and thus wearing vintage). Thank you very much for the reminder to wear these kinds of scarves more often, sweet dear.

Your nails are brilliant!
I suck at doing my nails. The most I've ever managed is painting a stripe across the top of each nail. Very wobbly
Looking fab as per. Love the hair!

I am feeling very inspired by your lovely nails! I've aways found nail polish a little tacky, and I never felt like I could pul off colours, but you actually make it look so vintage and classy, I must have a go!

You are just too beautiful!
I am completely amazed that you can do that to your own nails. I can barely paint ONE color on my nails! It also doesn't help that I have constant hangnails and other unsightly things happening to the tips of my hands. I would love to have my nails be painted and pretty all the time but, alas, it is a professional manicure for me, or its not gonna happen!
aww you look absolutely fabulous, girl! :)
I really like your dress (such an amazing print, wish I had one like that!) and both your hair and nails look gorgeous! well done :)

hello!
I really like your blog, style and everything about it. I'm keen on vintage hairstyles and I admire this one. could you make a tutorial (photo or video) for this rolls please? I'd be superhappy))
thanks, andrea
Hey Esme (I assume that is your name)
I agree with Andrea, above.
I would love you to make a tutorial on how you do your up-do's.
Pretty please? Get a friend to help you shoot it, it would be much easier to see what you're up to.
Also, your nails are fab. I have a chocolate brown polish on at the moment with the ring finger on my left hand covered in copper glitter. Just one glittery finger in there to spice it up.
That apricot sportsgirl polish is delicious. Take a close up of your nails next time . I'd love to see how you did the tips.
Love from Cape Town,
